The “Día de los Muertos-The Day of the Dead exhibition” is a joyful occasion of remembrance, involving feasts and festivities through which death is recognized as a part of the natural process of living. The purpose of this exhibition is to celebrate the creative ways that artists honor this deeply meaningful holiday through artistic expressions of personal and universal significance. Submitted artworks must creatively explore the essence and emotion of this traditional Mexican holiday. The imagery, symbols, and motifs are endless: memorials and remembrances, altars and shrines, paper banners (Papel picado), flowers, candles, saints, graveside vigils, pageantry, sugar skulls, skeletons. MEET THE VENUE The European Centre/ Contemporary Space Athens is an area of 350 sq.m. totally (ground floor, mezzanine, 1st, and 2nd floor) at 74 Mitropoleos Street, in the historical center of Athens.
